Model Branch

The World Bank had advised HMG Nepal for privatization of water supply and sewerage system of Kathmandu Valley. NWSC itself a very potential organization with pool of experienced manpower in urban water supply management, it is needed to demonstrate its own competence in good management of urban water systems upon the necessary favorable environment. For this purpose, a Model Branch is formulated and established as prototype to show efficiency of NWSC with existing environment. NWSC has decided to develop Kamaladi Branch as Model Branch. A five years plan has been set-up for the Model Branch.

Characteristics of Model Branch

The Model Branch has following characteristics:

a.     Improve level of service to the consumers in quality and quantity of water

b.     Prompt response to consumer's complaints

c.     Reduction in the unaccounted for water (UFW)

d.     Reduction in operation cost

e.     Increase in revenue collection

f.      Increase in water billing

g.     Increase in staff efficiency (reduction in staff/connection ratio)
