Production Improvement

Balaju, Gongabu, Tripureswor, Office Complex, Ratnapark, Bhaktapur
(Jagate), Kalimati and Maharajgung.

Distribution System Expansion
and Improvement

1.Rapid saved filter tanks at Banshari

3. PWAP station for distribution of water at Bansbari Treatment
Plant.
1. About 35Km.Pipe line extension work (2”
to 4” size) completed with the help of HMG loan and
internal source of NWSC.
2. 4” bypass line about 1Km. Completed at Sundari Jal Trunk
main.
3. Extention of about 10Km. Sewerage line and construction of
about 400 manholes in Lalitpur and Kathmandu districts.
Leak Detection and Control
A comprehensive Leak Detection and Repairs Program is taking place in
Greater Kathmandu, Pokhara and Bhairahawa to control leakage and
wastage with the HMG and internal fund of the Corporation. There is
also a provision for replacing old cluster service connections with
new pipes.
Sewerage
In case of sewerage facilities which are so far limited to Kathmandu
Valley towns only an additional of sewer lines to extend its service
in urban areas and the actual operations of two new-defunct sewerage
treatment station (Dhobighat) is being programmed this year for
Kathmandu and Lalitpur. While some additional new sewer lines will be
constructed in Kirtipur Municipality in order to meet the local
demand, a new sewerage study will be carried out in the case of
Madhyapur Thimi Municipality this year. Similarly, a study will take
place for the towns outside the Kathmandu Valley.
Computerization of Billing System
NWSC is one step ahead of previous billing system. About 17000
customers under Tripureswor branch office are completely billed and
payment is also made through computerized billing system. Similarly,
proposal has been collected for the computerization of Mahankal Chour
branch office and will be started very soon in near future. Further
more all the Kathmandu Valley customers will be billed through
computerized system within next two months.
Outside the Kathmandu Valley
Many small projects that are in implementation for the outside valley
towns with the budget made available from this Majesty’s Government
and the Corporation itself. These are meant mainly for increasing
water production quantities to meet the growing demand in each of
these smaller towns while somewhat bigger important towns like Pokhara
and Dharan will be provided with a new sedimentation Tank each to
improve water quality. Following projects are ongoing for
implementation in the outside the valley towns:
