Statutory Provision
The present Nepal Water Supply Corporation which came into being in the month of February, 1990 under the NWSC Act, 1990 of His Majesty’s Government of Nepal will complete its 15 years of operation today as an important utility in providing its services in the field of drinking water & sewerage in the urban centers of Nepal. It had the following predecessors in the past as dictated by the statue:
* PANI ADDA or PANI GOSWARA until 1973 May
* WATER SUPPLY & SEWERAGE BOARD, 1973 July
(Under the development Board Act, 1957)
* WATER SUPPLY & SEWERAGE CORPORATION, 1985 July
(Under the Corporation Act, 1965)
* NEPAL WATER SUPPLY CORPORATION, 1990 February
(Under Nepal Water Supply Corporation Act, 1990)
According to NWSC Act 1990 the Corporation shall get its annual accounts audited by a certified auditor (Chartered Accountant) appointed by the Auditor General of Nepal.
Service Area
NWSC has endeavored to provide quality service to consumers in spite of innumerable ranges of problems encountered especially during dry season. The present NWSC has 28 urban centers (or Municipalities) of Nepal under its jurisdiction.
